Teaching Practices
procedures of teaching
In my teaching practice, I relied on hands-on activities and visual aids to create an engaging and interactive learning environment. I found that these methods helped students better grasp abstract concepts and stay actively involved in the lessons. Additionally, I made a conscious effort to use their mother tongue whenever possible to bridge communication gaps and ensure that instructions and lesson content were clear. This approach not only supported their learning but also helped them feel more comfortable and confident in expressing themselves in the classroom.

time management & organizing activities
Managing time effectively was crucial in ensuring that every lesson was meaningful and well-structured. I carefully divided the allotted time between discussions and activities, making sure that students had opportunities to process information and apply what they learned. Individual participation was a key focus, as I wanted to assess each student’s understanding and provide the necessary guidance to support their learning. I also made sure that activities were concise yet impactful, allowing students to remain engaged without feeling overwhelmed.
classroom management
Classroom management was a challenge, particularly because of the language barrier and the students’ diverse learning needs. However, I adopted a fun, engaging, and respectful approach to establish a positive classroom atmosphere. By treating students with kindness and respect, I noticed that they reciprocated with attentiveness and cooperation. Over time, this approach helped build a sense of trust, making it easier to manage the class and create a more structured learning environment.

problem-solving while teaching and staying in designated school
Every day, I took the opportunity to learn and adapt to my environment. I made an effort to understand the cultural aspects, norms, and practices within the school, as well as the curriculum expectations set by my cooperating teachers. By immersing myself in the school’s culture and educational system, I was able to refine my teaching approach and build stronger connections with my students. Rather than seeing challenges as obstacles, I viewed them as learning experiences that helped me grow as an educator. Fortunately, my buddies and fellow interns from other schools were always willing to assist me, especially when it came to language and cultural aspects. Their guidance and support made it easier for me to navigate unfamiliar situations and adapt more effectively to my new teaching environment.

additional insights
My teaching experience at SLB Negeri was particularly unique due to its rural setting, which meant limited access to instructional materials and technology. Unlike in more developed schools, I had to be resourceful in creating engaging lessons using what was available. Despite these challenges, I embraced the opportunity to think creatively and maximize the resources at hand. I also took the initiative to learn basic phrases in the students’ language, which helped me communicate more effectively and build stronger relationships with them. This experience reinforced my belief in the importance of adaptability, patience, and continuous learning in teaching.
